Visitors to the upcoming Granite Belt Art and Craft Trail are in line for a melodious experience, with the late announcement of a musical line-up to thrill both classicists, rock aficionados and ukulele-lovers.
Arts trail founder and amateur musician Rosy Chapman toured the region last week with videographer Gabriele Truco shooting footage to promote the event to the lucrative drive-market.
“Thanks to our 20-strong ukulele group The Graniteers, the entertainment at our small halls and surrounding venues is shaping up to be lively! They’ll be roving about at Robert Channon Wines, Ridgemill Estate, Granite Belt Brewery, the Alpaca Arts Collective and our community halls.
“We have a Vivaldi-loving classical string quartet, The Occasional Players, at Artworks Opening Night on Friday 30 October and at Amiens History Association on Sunday 1 November.
“Heritage Estate will be hosting Musicorum, a popular piano-backed vocal duo, and The Graniteers.
“Amiens History Association will be hosting a range of experiential activities and musicians. Catch the swinging Granite Belt Community Band, Granite Belt Junior Choir performing the classics to contemporary Dylan and The Graniteers as you pan for tin. “Amiens is a great chance to explore a resplendent replica railway carriage fit for a prince. Back in 1920, Prince Edward travelled the length of the Amiens branch railway line in a royal train to officially open the line on 26 July 1920. The line was built to transport fruit from orchards to city markets for returned servicemen resettled to farm in the area after World War 2.

“Spring is so very beautiful up here! Join us at the Granite Belt’s premier free art event Friday 30 October to Sunday 1 November 2020.
The Granite Belt Art and Craft Trail has a strong artisan line up for the 2020 open studios event. Over thirty artisans will be exhibiting on the trail at 17 different venues, from wineries to art galleries and beautiful small community halls.
“Our artisans are good to go! We have an Indigenous collage artist, a contemporary dot painter and an indigenous arts collective, potters, street art, fibre artisans including that wonderful Mongolian Ger, leadlight artisans, fine art photographers, a candlemaker, watercolourists, a precious metal jeweller, and many more.
“You can enrol in a class; you can watch a demonstration and you can get in and have a go. It is a great opportunity to get behind the scenes of creativity and be engaged in art yourself.
This year marks the second of the arts festival which provides a fully immersive experience of the rich tapestry of culture, talent, history and artefacts in the region.
There will be a three-day, COVID-sensitive event opening at 10am on Friday 30 October and closing on Sunday 1 November at 4pm.
