Nola has always been interested in botany, anlmals and in painting. However, it was only after retiring from a career in education that she incorporated these into wildlife and botanical art. Gardening, bush walking and observing native wildlife helped her develop this interest and she now strives to capture the living world in her art. It is the fine detail and colour that helps her develop the clarity and precision needed in this form of art and illustration.
Nola works in watercolour, graphite and colour pencil which enables her to include fine detail to display the essence of each living species. Her works illustrates a love of the natural world. Within each image Nola focuses on accuracy of detail, the way light affects colour and tone which leads to a pleasing composition illustrating the natural form of plants and animals.
Botanical images, wildlife studies, still-life and pet portraits all in realistic formats with detail and clarity are important aspects of Nola's work.
