Louise Jenkins

Welcome to a world of intaglio printing combined with layered printing and/or hand colouring effects.

Louise Jenkins

Welcome to a world of intaglio printing combined with layered printing and/or hand colouring effects.

The workshop begins with a demonstration introducing the various methods you might like to try, and a short discussion relating these methods to some of Louise's art on exhibition.

There is the freedom to explore the materials and processes provided, to create your own unique and beautiful prints. We'll be using small formats, so that you can play with lots of variation, creating and building on multiple images.

For the intaglio itself, you'll use heavy nails to scratch expressive marks into cardboard plates. The ink that is scraped into the sunken design will be picked up by damp paper as it is forced in with the etching press.

All materials are provided including leaves/fabric/plastic/string etc for stencilling, colour for printing and tinting, ink for intaglio printing, printing plates, and paper.

Paper for additional prints is available for purchase on the day if time permits.

Please bring your own apron and gloves, plus any design reference you might like to use.

Materials provided for 8-10 finished prints.
