Crank’d Sox at Suttons Danielle Hannigan – Fibre Arts

Using replica and antique hand-cranked circular sock knitting machines, Dani creates bright and warm merino socks. The technology for the machines has remained relatively unchanged since the 1870s, and creates beautiful and comfortable socks to this day! Although the technology hasn’t changed, modern yarns provide a colourful addition to the art, commercially blended and dyed yarns keep socks bright and strong for many years, without needing to darn. In addition to creating wearable artistic socks, Dani also dyes merino, silk and bamboo yarns, the rainbow of colours allowing others to make their own ‘slow’ fashion, and keep the traditional crafts alive.

Art at Anvil Hill - Metalwork, Painting, Sculpture

Hi I’m Jason the artist behind Art @ Anvil Hill. Little did I know 6 years ago, when I moved to the granite Belt just how much my art would change and evolve into what it is today. I started out perfecting handmade carbon steel fry pans which became very popular and were soon selling all over Australia. From there things got interesting and ideas for quotes and poems started coming to me all hours of the night so I started writing them down. Having accumulated quiet a number I decided to write and publish my first quote book which is called ‘Only The Messenger’. Then things really took a turn. I had a dream to do 2 pieces of art. Having no art experience, I started researching Artists and Art in general. This triggered something and a passion to create exploded inside of me. I studied Picasso, De Kooning, Monet, Basquiat, Arthur Boyd and loads more to get some idea about art and what it was. Fast forward to now and what was an empty packing shed is full of large, thought provoking and unique pieces of art in oil and acrylic in my own ever evolving style.
